    Develop a program or asset that helps Goose Island Beer Co. establish credibility in the culinary world, elevate craft beer to appeal to a broader audience and excite curiosity around beer through the lens of food, music, travel, art, technology and fashion.

  • Create a portal that brings together all the aspects of life that Goose Island beer fans and drinkers are interested in - food, music, travel, art, tech - a vibrant, hilarious, obscure, reverent, irreverent and accepting lifestyle that involves craft beer in every aspect. We wanted to get stories told about the experiences that happen while beer is in the room, stories that weren’t being told by other breweries or magazines.

    I wanted to introduce an emerging lifestyle where Goose Island is integrated in our special occasions and our every day. I wanted this portal to connect people, with Goose Island as the glue.

    We wanted to educate those that don’t know what beer can encompass. I looked around our brewery and saw that Goose Island employees were those people. So we set out and dug deep and told the stories about the brand’s interests and lives in a way that’s fun, approachable and engaging.

    -Retro paper IRL magazine evokes nostalgia amongst Millenials and Gen Z-ers.

    -Create a community of like-minded outsiders, obsessives and nerds with good taste.

    -White space - Lack of high-quality beer-centric lifestyle publications

  • INGRAIN is a 100+ page magazine released three times a year. It contains articles that create crossover appeal for drinkers who might like or even love beer but don’t want to talk or read about it exclusively. Articles vary – from how to cook articles, to travelogue stories, to what to make, who to listen to, what to watch, and where to go to discover all the other parts of urban culture that pair well with beer.
